At Fox Mattress, we know the upholstery or cushioning used in a mattress is the most important part. Although there are many different types of fibers available, wool, down, etc.; wool is by far the most common. If you ever had a mattress that created an impression where you sleep it is most probably the cushioning that has created it.

At our Holly Hill facility we have a great relationship with all the largest and most respected FOAM pourers in the U. S. With these connections we are able to buy the most up-to-date cutting edge foams available. We choose not to go overseas trying to save a nickel, we would rather KNOW what is in our mattresses. One thing we are told over and over by our supplier sales rep's is that NOBODY in the mattress business uses the quality that Fox Matttress does. This is one reason we like to build our own mattresses.

Do not get confused with all the big and exciting words the mattress business can come up with, i.e. precompressed, high density, HR and all the other separate company words: Optisense(TM), Tempur(TM), Cool Action(TM). Foam quality is determined by science...not WORDS.

• Gel...
  Designed to try and cool the warm sleeping aspects of some foams, it comes infused or beaded.
• Visco (Memory)...
  The original NASA type foam, designed to mold or cradle the body.
• Latex (Natural & Synthetic)...
  The rubber family, Dunlop or Tallaly the most common designs.
• Preserve Urethane (no VOC, CFC's etc.)...
  An upgrade from the standard urethane foam which is the most common in the mattress business.
• Reticulated...
  Big open cell structure used to create a great amount of air flow which in turn helps cool other layers in the design.

The foam quality is judged by the density (how much it weighs per cubic foot) not the firmness (how hard or soft it is). As an example, a 1.8lb foam can be measured by taking a cube 12"x12"x12" and weighing it, so naturally the lighter foams have more air and heavier foams more ingredients. The problem with light foams is that as you compress the air out night after night you start to create the dreaded sag. We strongly recommend using the heaviest or most dense foams possible.

Normal mattress cushioning ranges between .8lbs per cubic foot (low end) to 1.8lbs per cubic foot (high end). At Fox Mattress we use from 1.8lb (low end) to 5.5lb (high end) so as you can tell we know foam is the key to comfort, durability, support and slowing down the body impression issue.

Firmness has nothing to do with quality... Density of your mattress is what will provide longevity and comfort for years to come.
